Food poisoning bacteria are microorganisms that cause symptoms of infection in the digestive tract such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea and fever. Some of these bacteria that can cause or trigger food poisoning are Listeria, Salmonella, E.coli and Campylobacter.

This happens when an individual have consumed a food that is contaminated by these bacteria. Usually the symptoms may begin hours or days before eating food with bacteria. This is because these bacteria need an ample time for them to propagate and multiply, so when they are already proliferate it will now attack the intestine causing someone to get sick.

How Bacteria Grow

In order for the bacteria food poisoning to grow they will need a moist and warm area to produce. Meaning, if they are on a right condition one bacterium can able to multiply from hundred to millions in just 8 hours.

Obviously, if the food is already contaminated and you put them out in the fridge, the next day it can be extremely contaminated. Putting the food in the fridge will prevent the bacteria from multiplying.

Hence, you cannot taste, smell or see bacteria, the best way to do is to handle the food properly and practice healthy hygiene most of the times. Make sure to teach your children to clean their hands before eating a meal or after going to the restroom. These are preventive measures that are ideal for them to evade from food infection.

Each of these bacteria may show food poisoning bacteria symptoms that are common such as diarrhea with blood, fever, vomiting and nausea. If you are suspecting that you are suffering from food poisoning, it is best to consult your physician right away for proper diagnosis and treatment. Fecalysis or stool examination is the best method for these bacteria to be identified. Some of these infection may just go away without medication but there are some cases wherein the food poisoning is severe and may need the patient to be admitted in the hospital.

If you experiencing constipation, curing it would mean resorting to some remedies that may be found in your home. If the case is not severe, then you might want to resort to treatments that can be found in your home. However if it has become worse, it is always best to seek the advice of doctors. Usually this disorder is often caused by one’s lifestyle. Lack of exercise and poor diet can be attributed to constipation. Drinking 8 glasses of water or any liquid can definitely help to avoid constipation. Water can clean your digestive system. Constipation happens when there is lack of bowel movements in your body. According to American Dietetic Association, 20-35 grams of fiber should be added to your daily diet. Good sources of fiber include fruits, vegetables and grains. Here are some of the common remedies that could be found in your home.

Fresh apple juice combined with figs and raisins can surely help. Experiment on the quantity of ingredients that you need to put in. Make sure that it is not too thick. Add apple juice if it is needed.

Psylllium seed is an herbal medicine that can be considered the best when treating constipation. This is because of the fact that it contains soluble fiber called mucilage. This expands when water is absorbed making your stools bulky so that it can stimulate peristalsis. There are quite a number of over the counter medicines that have this as an active ingredient.

Spinach is considered as a wonder leaf. It can chase away toxins from body. Aside from curing constipation, it can also give you strength.

There are notable alternatives that can relieve you from constipation. There are practical ways of doing so like colonic irrigation, enemas, exercises and diet budgeting.

Drinking aloe vera juice is also accepted treatment for constipation. It can heal and clean the digestive system.

Guava can also help alleviate constipation. This can ensure there is an easy movement of your bowels.

If you have a case of chronic constipation, add more cucumber, carrots and tomatoes in your diet. There should be a minimum of 250 grams. It is best to add them in your salad to make it palatable.

Mix green tea leaves and honey in hot water. Drink it after meals. This can give moist to your intestine that could free stools. This is recommended for elder people and pregnant women.

Prepare a soup made of water and spinach. Add a bit of salt for taste. This is gentle but effective way of relieving constipation problem. It can soothe and stimulate your bowel movement. Adding carrots can also help. This is suitable for adult and children.

Digestive disorder isn’t just one symptom, but is a mix of an array of health complications, obviously medical and is characterized by pain in the abdomen, disturbed bowel movements, irritability and many such connected symptoms. Digestive disorders might involve any of the organs such as the mouth, stomach, esophagus, small and large intestine (also known as colon), anus and rectum. The problems with digestive system can either be mild or moderate or very severe at times; from a mere stomach upset, to very severe colon cancer can be noted. Some of the commonly effecting diseases in this respect are ulcer, gastro esophageal reflux disease, irritable bowel syndrome or IBS, diverticulitis & diverticulosis, Crohn’s disease, lactose intolerance, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, proctitis, abdominal abscess, ulcerative colitis and hiatal hernia.

All these diseases that are triggered due to digestive disorder problems need various therauptic approaches if allopathic treatment is perused. Varied medications and lifestyle changes become essential as a part of the treatment course. From medications to radiation therapies, chemotherapy and even surgery becomes essential. However, there are many alternative approaches of treating digestive disorders and practitioners often preach these methods as the best in treating digestive problems. Aromatherapy happens to be one of the most popular alternative treatment options for digestive problems. This treatment is carried out with the use of essential oils derived form plants and is to be inhaled by the patients in order to alleviate all the symptoms of the disorder.

Aromatherapy is a combination of more than hundred essential oils. All the specific plant oils being selected for specific disorder is derived from the oil’s properties and its healing capacity. While some oils can be the best for reducing swelling and inflammation, some others can protect us against diseases triggered by microorganisms; still some others might help in stimulating the nervous system, while others work as sedatives and help in calming the nervous and the overall nervous system. With digestive disorders, as there are too many forms of the complications, the probable options for treatment are also large enough.

Some of the commonly used aroma oils for treating digestive problems are:

4 Peppermint Oil (Mentha Piperita): The oil can calm the overall system and has excellent carminative properties as well. Carminative can help in releasing gas from our stomach and can also help in reducing intestinal spasm.

4 Lavender (Lavendul Officinlis): This particular oil can calm the human nervous system and can as well relieve various types of digestive disorders.

4 German Chamomile (Matricaria Recutica): This is an effective antispasmodic and can help in reducing the nervous and muscular spasms. It can also relieve pain associated with the same.

4 Fennel (Foeniculum Vulgare): It has both carminative and antispasmodic properties. It is an excellent natural laxative, but must not be overused.

4 Clary Sage (Salvia Sclarea): This is again an antispasmodic and has excellent sedative properties as well. It can help in relieving tension and anxiety often associated with digestive disorders.

The use of aromatherapy essential oils for treating simple forms of varied digestive disorders is a well known process. However, it needs to be added that some of the serious forms of digestive complications cam also be healed with aromatherapy, which is a natural and an effective formula.

Fatigue, basically refers to the loss of energy or feeling of incapacitating tiredness and weakness. It is one such symptom that is experienced by many people all across the globe and people suffering form digestive disorders are more prone to this. Our digestive system is solely responsible for the processing of nutrients in our body. A digestive malfunction cannot only interrupt the system or the way nutrients are received by the body or how the problems like bleeding are caused, as these conditions can lead to fatigue.

There are various types of digestive disorders and might cause fatigue. Liver diseases, like viral hepatitis, hemochromatosis, fatty liver and cirrhosis can also lead to fatigue and weariness, and our liver fails in processing the nutrients as well as the toxins. Diseases causing gastrointestinal bleeding, like peptic ulcer can also lead to fatigue as the body tends to lose blood slowly. Some other disorders might include mal-absorption of the essential nutrients that might lead to fatigue. Fatigue in itself is a symptom of various diseases and can also be a potential side effect of medications and treatments as well. Lack of proper sleep, stress and anxiety, depression and other such related factors can also cause fatigue.

Fatigue can severely impede the normal functioning of life and might as well interfere with a person’s ability to preserve healthy relationships and maintain it for long and might as well deprive you of all the pleasures in life. Fatigue might as well be escorted by various symptoms like irritability and headache.

Fatigue can either be acute or it can chronic as well in terms of duration. People suffering form severe and persistent form of fatigue, which is potentially weakening and lasts for more than six months or even longer are likely to be suffering from a typical condition known as chronic fatigue syndrome or CFS or some other underlying medical complication. When fatigue tends to exceed beyond two weeks, it does have an obvious reason, may be digestive problems or some other internal complications are likely to be the primary cause. In such cases, immediate medical attention is required.

Fatigue, which is often related with digestive disorder, has got no such measurement tool. It cannot be measured. However, a doctor can perform certain physical examinations, such as evaluation tests for identifying the underlying cause of the persistent problem.

When fatigue is caused due to a digestive malfunction or problems with the system, treatments are designed for addressing the condition in general. For patients having medications for treating digestive problems might as well experience aggravating fatigue conditions as a side effect of the medication used. In such cases, some alternative medications would become necessary.

As the symptoms of digestive disorders are often severe, it can cause fatigue as a result. The symptoms are usually painful and can sometimes interfere with the lifestyle as well. Digestive disorders begin in the mouth and then spread across all the internal organs that support digestion. The problem can be potentially detrimental for our overall health and our internal system. The symptoms of the disorder might also manifest in the form of fatigue initially and then would proceed to terrible weakness and sometimes loneliness as well.

Digestive disorders can be treated with medications and alternative therapies; both these options stand a good chance in treating the complication easily.

Digestive disorder is a common complaint of millions of Americans. It is said that approximately 100 million people in Canada and the United States are suffering from recurrent episodes of gastrointestinal symptoms. Over 80 million people of North America have been suffering from irritable bowel syndrome. All these complications have four common and prominent symptoms – pain in the abdominal regions, constipation, diarrhea and distension due to excess gas. Some other common digestive disorders affecting people are heartburn, peptic ulcer and non-ulcer dyspepsia. Heartburn is the most prevalent of all the complications and it affects almost 44% of the American and Canadian populace, peptic ulcer affects 8% and the non-ulcer dyspepsia tends to affect 20-40% of the cases. The members who fall into this urge group prefer to self-medicate themselves and therefore they suffer longer than the rest.

Some of the patients of this huge symptomatic group, however, would have well-defined disorders, while the remaining symptomatic group would be the victims of irritable bowel syndrome, which is a common problem. People who belong to this symptomatic group of irritable bowel syndrome are likely to have several other dysfunctions related to the disease and supposedly caused due to the digestive problems. After being diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome, the patients receive inappropriate or inadequate treatment having limited efficacy. Only a handful of patients suffering from long-term complications would receive adequate instructions in the form of food and diet.

Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s and celiac disease are 3 of the most complicated digestive disorders and are indications of long-term digestive tract complications. These diseases of the digestive tracts are basically immune-mediated, with accelerated permeability of our digestive tract, and can also be associated with several immune-mediated diseases. People suffering from these conditions are usually symptomatic for several years, before the actual diagnosis is done.

Digestive disorders are triggered due to the supply of food. Diet revision is the primary method that must be used for treating digestive problems. Our gastrointestinal tract is almost like a device that can sense and react and can as well monitor the substances that flow through the tract. The symptoms that tend to arise are often caused due to the dysfunction in the system. There are seven alarming symptoms that could predict a probable gastrointestinal tract problems caused due to food:

1.nausea

2.heartburn

3.vomiting

4.bloating

5.pain

6.constipation, and

7.diarrhea.

There are several over-the-counter drugs available for treating these gastrointestinal problems and the industry is vast. But self medication cannot be the solution to this complication; it needs proper medical treatment.

What we eat can badly affect our system. We eat junk foods and processed foods a lot these days to save some time and these foods are the worst enemies of our digestive tract. It can actually cause severe damage to the intestines and to our digestive system. As these foods contain too much of additives, chemicals and oils, they are difficult to digest unlike other foods and that leads to complications. If we stuff in all these foods on a regular basis, our gastrointestinal tracts would be overloaded and would finally fail to maintain its regular course of work. So a diet revision is a must for all, whether you are having digestive problems or not.

Yoga therapy is known to be one of those few methods of treatment that can actually alter the way of life for the better. It is an age old method of exercise and meditation that can heal various health complications pertaining to mental conditions, physical complications and digestive problems. Peptic ulcer is one particular condition that can be treated very well with yoga therapy. However, this concept has been under pressure since the last few decades as peptic ulcers are fast growing to be the most prevalent digestive disorders. It is also known as Acid Peptic Disease or APD.

Acid Peptic Disease or APD or Peptic ulcer is basically an inflamed condition of the inner lining of our stomach and is caused due to acid peptic digestion. This means that a continuous conflict persists in the stomach’s inner lining which results in irritation due to certain germs. Peptic ulcer also has typical symptoms that an actually make the disease more evident. The disease is characterized by a flaming pain that occurs in our upper abdominal regions. The pain usually strikes when the stomach is empty.

The exact cause of peptic ulcer, like every other digestive disorder, is a mystery. Family history or genes can be one of the probable causes for the development of the disease. This genetic predisposition triggers the target organ to manifest certain internal imbalances, which initially takes off in the mind only to affect the organs later on. Yogic science refers to this as Manomaya and Pranayama Kosa.

Yoga also helps in maintaining a proper balance between the body and the mind of individuals and the word itself refers to “union of the body and the mind for healthy living”. Yoga addresses every organ of the body and can not only treat peptic ulcer, but also every other form of digestive problems that you might experience. It can be rightly said that yoga can actually relieve you from any long term ailments.

Gastrointestinal disorders are very much regular these days and can be effectively healed with yoga exercises. There are various forms and postures of exercises for treating different digestive disorders. These are known as “asana” in yogic terms and can effectively treat irritable bowel syndrome or IBS, constipation, diarrhea, heartburns etc. Yoga when combined with Ayurveda can have great effects on the mind and body and completely cure various problems related to the stomach and the intestines.

While practicing yoga, you would be taught the different positions of asana and the breathing techniques; both of these techniques must be followed religiously as these are to be implemented in combination for better results. However, as with allopathic medicines, the results tend to show within a few days of treatment, but with yoga, it would take some time to give you the ultimate relief. But yoga therapies can provide long term solutions whereas any other treatments cannot.

The ‘asana’ are to be practiced regularly for improved digestive system. Deep breathing exercises are very commonly used for increasing the flow of oxygen in your blood and brining the breathing techniques in sync. ‘Dhanurasana’ in particular is very popular for treating digestive complications and can also help in toning your stomach muscles.

Almost every digestive complication, such as ulcers, GIRD, indigestion, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and many more, can be easily healed with yoga therapies.

The inner lining of our intestine acts as a barrier wall that only allows the normal passage of well digested fats, starch and proteins and these nutrients are passed through the barrier to enter into our bloodstream. It further allows the passage of these substances to various directions.

Sodium, potassium, magnesium and chloride can easily diffuse through our intestinal cells. Amino acids, glucose, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals also pass through the cells by using a separate mechanism known as active transport.

There’s another third way of passing these substances through the cells. There are spaces between these cells lining the intestinal walls and these are usually sealed. These junctions, usually tight, are known as desmosomes. As the intestinal lining tends to get irritated, the junctions fail to maintain its tightness and gets lose and this allows the unwanted molecules in our intestines to actually pass through the blood stream. These substances are regarded as foreign elements by our immune system as they are not really present in our bloodstream. This leads to the antibody reaction that calls for all the digestive problems.

As the intestinal lining tends to get further damaged, even some large substances, like bacteria can cause disease, undigested particles of food and toxic wastes; pass through these damaged cells directly. Further, there is an alarm in our immune system and that leads to the release of certain substances called cytokines and some antibodies as well. Cytokines are the white blood cells to combat these particles. As a result of this fight, certain oxidants are produced that causes inflammation and irritation in the body.

Leaky gut syndrome is characterized by certain symptoms like –

4 Abdominal pain

4 Asthma

4 Gas

4 Indigestion

4 Mood swings

4 Poor immunity

4 Skin rashes

4 Diarrhea, recurrent bladder infections

4 Constipation

4 Bloating

4 Aggressive behavior

4 Fatigue

4 Toxic feeling

4 Aggressiveness

Leaky gut syndrome is also associated with some of these conditions like –

4 Celiac disease

4 Crohn’s disease

4 Autoimmune disease

4 Environmental illness

4 Hives

4 Acne

4 Allergies

4 Inflammatory joint disease

4 Intestinal infections

4 Pancreatic insufficiency

4 Giardia

4 Uncreative colitis

4 Chronic fatigue syndrome

4 Food allergies

4 Liver dysfunction

4 Irritable bowel syndrome

Cause:

Leaky gut syndrome ca be caused due to various factors-

4 Chronic stress

4 Overgrowth of small intestine

4 Intestinal infections

4 Drinking excessive alcohol

4 Improper diet

4 Environmental contaminations

4 Medications, such as NSAIDs

Diagnosis

Leaky gut syndrome can be diagnosed through lactulose and mannitol tests. These are molecules, both soluble in water and cannot be used by the body. Mannitol can be easily absorbed only if a person has healthy and functional intestinal linings. Lactulose happens to be a bit larger and it cannot be absorbed completely. The diagnosis process involves the consumption of a solution containing lactulose and mannitol. After six hours from the time of consumption, urine sample is collected and tested. If the level of mannitol is higher compared to lactulose, it indicates a healthy test. If both the molecules are present in high levels, it means the person is suffering form leaky gut syndrome. A lower level of both these molecules indicates mal-absorption of nutrients.

Digestive disorders are the most prevalent problems affecting millions of people every year. As there are over 50 types of recurring digestive disorders, one cannot understand how intense the disease can be, until it actually affects. If you are someone who has been suffering from constipation on a regular basis, has been experiencing abdominal pain, have had diarrhea for a few times and occasional episodes of heartburn, you are probably suffering from digestive disorders. These are some of the most common symptoms of the disease that can be noted in our day to day life.

Living with digestive disorder, or for that matter any other disease, isn’t really a disease. As digestive disorder is painful and very interfering as well, it can be difficult to cope up with the symptoms. However, there are ways to come out of these problems and have a comfortable way of life and I’ll guide you through all of that.

Digestive disorders cannot be cured most of the times, but these can be treated for betterment. The accurate cause of the disorder has not been identified yet, but it has been observed that the percentage of digestive disorder problems and occurrences have increased over time. This significant rise on the percentage is definitely matter of concern. People often tend to self treat these diseases as the medicines come handy; the foods we eat regularly are also blamed for causing such problematic situations. But whether it’s in the food we eat or it is present in the environment we live in are still a mystery. Nevertheless, what we are aware of are the ways to treat these disorder symptoms for a better life and living.

The treatment options for digestive disorders are wide, but not all of these treatment options can be implemented at a go. As there are varied symptoms of the disorder, the treatment options are also likely to vary. Digestive pain or abdominal pain cannot be treated with the same medication as digestive gas or food disorders or constipation disorders. Depending on the intensity of the disease, the dosage of the medications would be determined. However, apart from all these medications, there are certain alternative remedies that can be used for treating the digestive disorder symptoms easily. The first step in this regard would be checking our diet.

Digestive disorders and gas and bowel problems are triggered by the kind of food we eat. So you need a food revision, a change in your food habits can make the difference. Also you need to switch over to something that is healthier.

Fiber is an important food ingredient that can help in proper functioning of the digestive system. Vegetables and fruits are the major sources of fiber. Processed foods and junk foods need to be avoided.

Small portions of foods should be taken at regular intervals and you must eat slowly. This would allow you to digest the food properly while you eat.

Fluids are a must for your health and can prevent the body from getting dehydrated. So drink ample amount of water, fresh fruit juices and any fluids that come your way. Dehydration is one of the primary causes of constipation and therefore you must supply your body with plenty of water. But, do not take tea or coffee, as they can interfere with the digestive process.

Digestive disorders cannot jeopardize your life till the time you consciously make efforts to keep the system clean and healthy.

Gastrointestinal problems are the most common conditions in the United States and reports from The American Gastroenterological Association states that almost 30% off the state’s populace experience some kind of digestive disorders or gastrointestinal problems every year. These problems can however, be prevented with some of these helpful tips noted below:

Carefully Choose the Dairy Products:

The National Institute of Health states that over 30 million – 50 million people in America are lactose-intolerant, which means they cannot digestive dairy products. This problem is even common with people in certain racial groups like the Asian-Americans (90% of these are lactose-intolerant), Native Americans (almost 80% are lactose intolerant) and also African-Americans. Lactose intolerance can either cause constipation or diarrhea the major sources of lactose are milk, yoghurt, ice cream and cheese.

This condition needs to be supplemented with ample amount of probiotics as the digestive system needs it. It helps in maintaining the healthy functioning of the colon as well and removes the bad bacteria from the gastrointestinal tract as well. Restoring the healthy bacteria is very important after taking antibiotics or when an individual is over stressed due to certain factors. Stress and antibiotics together can suppress all the healthy bacteria.

Increase Your Fiber Intake:

Dietary fiber happens to be one of the most essential ingredients for a healthy digestive tract and internal system. Fiber can not only lower the cholesterol levels, but can as well feed our healthy bacteria and can also assist in increasing the same. The best sources of fiber are brown rice, whole wheat, whole oats, peas, beans, seeds, nuts and some vegetables and fruits. Ideally, an adult needs about 25 grams of fiber regularly as a part of their daily diet. For starters, however, fiber rich cereal is recommended; white bread needs to be replaced with whole wheat bread. You can as well add some of these high fiber food ingredients in your diet, such as lentils, nuts, hummus etc. Green vegetables and fresh frits must be consumed in abundance; at least 5 servings of vegetables and fruits are needed. Flax seeds are a good source of fiber and you can add the same in ground form to your regular meals for more fiber.

Good Digestive Habits Are Always Recommended:

The smooth digestive functioning is often interrupted by our dietary habits and lifestyle. Some of the contributing factors are alcohol, tea, caffeine, chocolate, fatty / junk foods, thick sauces etc. These food groups in general are known to interfere with the system and can cause reflux as well. It also worsens the symptoms of heartburn. So, its time that you start thinking that why these foods cause such disturbances? Is it because it doesn’t suit you or it’s because it has already started causing damage to your system. In such cases, you must give up all or any of these habits that you practice.

Also, while eating, you must chew your food very well for proper digestion. After you chew the food, you can actually take in all the nutrients from the food that you eat and the digestion begins right in the mouth, which is essential.
